The consequences of pollution on the skin
If pollution is often invisible, its misdeeds are very real, the particles clog the pores of the skin preventing the epidermis from breathing. The more the skin is exposed to a polluted environment, the more it will suffer. Pollution acts on natural defenses and weakens them. In contact with a polluted environment, the skin loses its tone, wrinkles form on the face, pigment spots and imperfections may also appear.
Urban pollution, fine particles, gas, carbon monoxide, ozone, solvents, micro-fibers, … polluting sources are numerous and varied and rub off on our health and that of our skin. Several reactions can take place such as skin irritation or inflammation of the epidermis . In lack of oxygen, the complexion blurs and the epidermis loses its suppleness. Redness and itching sensations may appear. Sebum production can also be disrupted and pores become more apparent. Acne and blemishes can settle on the face. The skin can become prone to some dryness and suffer from dehydration.
The polluting particles that accumulate on the surface of the skin can also increase the signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines. An overproduction of free radicals is generated because of pollution, the skin balance is disturbed and skin aging is accelerated.
